IRIS e.V. is the coordinating institution for UP2YOUTH. The team consists of Andreas Walther, Barbara Stauber, Axel Pohl, Gebhard Stein and Barbara Stock.

IRIS is a private non-profit research institute specialised in local, regional and international research in social work and social policies. IRIS stands in close cooperation with the Department of Education at the University of Tübingen and the Tübingen Institute for Gender and Women’s Studies.

IRIS has been founding and coordinating member of EGRIS since 1993. It has been coordinating 4th and 5th framework projects (Lifelong Learning in Europe, Misleading Trajectories, Youth Policy and Participation (YOYO), Young People and Transition Policies in Europe) as well as projects funded under Leonardo da Vinci, Youth for Europe and by DG Employment and Social Affairs. Recently it has coordinated a ‘Thematic Study on Policy Measures for Disadvantaged Young People’ in 13 European countries, commissioned by DG Employment. Further IRIS has been involved in the project Families and Transitions in Europe (FATE).

IRIS has also developed expertise in planning and organising European conferences and comparable events, the biggest being the European Lifelong Learning conferences in Dresden (1996) and in Lisbon (1998), and the European Conference for Researchers and Policy makers on “Young People and Transitions Policies in Europe” in Madrid (2002).
