Welcome to UP2YOUTH: Youth - actor of social change

The UP2YOUTH project has collected a number of case studies on policies and practices in our research fields. These case studies have been selected to represent current trends in policy-making in Europe. An explanation of the idea behind this collection can be found here.

In the following, UP2YOUTH coordination team member Axel Pohl draws policy and practice implications from the UP2YOUTH research findings. More general policy implications of our research can be found in the "Results" section of this website.

The fifth issue of the UP2YOUTH Newsletter is focusing on "Young people’s transitions in the migration society". It provides a summary of the results of the UP2YOUTH working group on transitions to work of young people from an ethnic minority or migrant background.

The second UP2YOUTH thematic workshop took place in Lisbon in November 2007. Researchers from all over Europe working on one of the three topics young parenthood, ethnic minority youth or participation were invited to present and discuss their findings. The aim was to deepen the analysis with regard to complementary approaches and to broaden it with regard to regions and countries not involved in the UP2YOUTH consortium.

The core question of the thematic group is how young migrants and youth from ethnic minorities manage education and labour market entrance. This article presents findings and emerging issues from the first phase of the working group.
